Driven by Mike Hawthorn - 1955 Replacing Moss as Jaguar team leader Hawthorn achieved an early victory for Jaguar with LWK 343 - first in another 'Jaguar 1-2-3' at Silverstone. While not radically modified the works racing MkVIIM's 3.4 litre engine was by now developing over 200 b.h.p giving the car a 120 m.p.h plus potential. Despite it's bulk the Mk VII series handled extremely well. Perhaps only the advent of the 3.4 Litre 'compact' saloon halted it's competition career.
