The Pathfinder was one of the first products of the BMC factory at Cowley. Already well into its design stage when BMC was formed the car used a real Riley 4 cylinder engine twin cam 2443cc. The latest BMC gearbox was used with a most unusual right hand gear change. Only one Pathfinder was used by the Metropolitan Police its sister car the Wolsey being preferred.
