Chitty Bang Bang" was built by perhaps the best known amateur racing driver of his time Count Zborowski who lived in Higham Estate near Canterbury in Kent. Chitty was the first amateur aero-engined machine to achieve great fame at Brooklands. The Maybach Gotha Bomber engine was obtained from the WW1 Disposals Board and shoe-horned into a pre 1914 Mercedes chassis which had to be lengthened. First appearing at the Easter meeting in 1921 with a four seat body Chitty was very successful. By Whitsun a racing body had been fitted which the Milestone Model depicts.
