Announced on March 29th 1971 almost exactly ten years after the original six cylinder car appeared the Series 3 'E' Type was powered by Jaguar's superb new all-alloy 5.3 litre V12 engine carried in a wider front sub frame. The revised bodywork featured arches flared to cover the new wider wheels and the open two seater adopted the '2+2' longer wheelbase. The car could achieve 100mph in 15.4 seconds and reach nearly 150mph. Some 7990 Series 3 roadsters were made (1871 in RHD) and 7297 2+2 versions. Production ceased in 1973 ending a magnificent line of Jaguar sports cars.
